Some reasons why kids need to do homework include the following:

  • Creates a good teacher-student collaboration

It is through homework that teachers get a chance to work with the individual student at a personal level. Therefore, the teacher can easily identify and correct weaknesses in a student, thus improving the performance.

  • Creates a sense of responsibility

Homework usually has a fixed timeline. Therefore, when kids do homework, they learn how to be punctual and how to be responsible for their actions.

  • Parental involvement

Through homework, parents get a golden chance to review a kid’s progress in school. This will help parents devise practical plans to help students perform even better after realizing the strengths and weaknesses of their kids.

Disadvantages of homework for kids

Again, when homework isn’t well-moderated, it can harm the kids in the following ways.

  • Denies them relaxation time

After school, kids need to spend time away from books and relax their brains for good development. However, with lots of homework, they barely have much time, and they go to bed extra tired.

  • Cheating

Sometimes, too much homework denies students adequate time to think and finish the task as they fear being punished. As a result, they resolve to cheat, a move that isn’t appropriate, especially because they won’t be developing some essential skills such as creative and problem-solving skills and time management skills, among others. Such skills are crucial not only in school but in life after school, especially in workplaces.
